About Florida Remodeling Direct
Last updated: July 2026
We built Florida Remodeling Direct because hiring a contractor in Florida should be transparent and fast. Homeowners describe the project once, in about 60 seconds, and we do the vetting and matching — so the quotes you compare come from pros who are licensed, insured, and actually working in your city.
Who we are
Florida Remodeling Direct is an independent, Florida-focused matching platform for home improvement projects. Our team works remotely across the state and handles three things: recruiting and verifying contractors, reviewing every homeowner request that comes through the quote form, and routing that request to the pros best suited to it. We are part of a small family of Florida homeowner services that also includes Florida Movers Direct, our sister platform for licensed moving companies.
What we are
A free matching service. You tell us about your project, we introduce you to up to four vetted, licensed local pros, and you compare their quotes with no cost and no obligation.
What we are not
We are not a contractor. We don't perform remodeling work, sell materials, manage projects, or send crews — and we never charge homeowners.
How our verification process works
Every professional passes a four-step check before we send them a single homeowner request. For remodeling trades, that verification is built around Florida's DBPR/CILB licensing system. On our sister moving platform, the equivalent checks are FDACS registration for intrastate movers and an active FMCSA USDOT number for interstate moves — different regulators, same standard: no license on file, no leads.
1. State license check (DBPR / CILB)
Every contractor must provide an active Florida license number, which we verify against the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) and the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) — Certified General, Building, Residential, Roofing, or the appropriate specialty license for the trade.
2. Insurance verification
We require a current certificate of general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage (or a valid state exemption) before a contractor receives a single homeowner request.
3. Local scope & code review
We confirm the cities and counties a pro actually works in, and — for Miami-Dade and Broward — that they build to High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) rules using Miami-Dade NOA-approved products.
4. Ongoing performance monitoring
Response times, homeowner feedback, and license status are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Pros who let a license or insurance policy lapse are removed from matching immediately.
You can always confirm a license yourself: search the contractor's license number on the Florida DBPR public licensee portal before you sign anything. We encourage it.
Our service area
We match homeowners statewide — all 67 Florida counties — with the deepest contractor coverage in the metros where most remodeling happens: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Orlando and Central Florida, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Naples and Fort Myers, and Sarasota. If you're outside a major metro, we still work your request; matching can simply take a little longer than the usual 24 hours.
- • All 67 Florida counties
- • Up to 4 quotes per request
- • Typical match time: 24 hours
- • 5 core services: kitchen, bathroom, roofing, impact windows, full renovation
- • 100% free for homeowners
Why we only cover Florida
Florida remodeling is not like remodeling anywhere else. The Florida Building Code, High-Velocity Hurricane Zone rules in Miami-Dade and Broward, Miami-Dade NOA product approvals, wind-mitigation credits on homeowners insurance, salt air, and year-round humidity all change which materials work, what permits you need, and what a job should cost. A national directory can't tell you whether a window carries an NOA or whether a roofer knows your county's re-nail requirements.
By staying in one state, we can vet against one licensing system, keep our 2026 cost ranges grounded in real Florida quotes, and only recommend pros who build to the code your inspector actually enforces. Depth over reach — that's the whole reason we exist.
